Annapurna Circuit Trek Day One Besisahar to Chamje

Day One 15 of us crowded into a jeep and bumped along for three and a half hours to Chamje where we spent our first night at Hotel Lhasa Tibet. This is a small settlement of stone houses and guesthouses for the trekkers who are making their way around the Annapurna Circuit. Our Tibetan hostess spent much of the evening chanting and walking inside and outside of the tiny guesthouse waving her incense. We were awakened early by more chanting and the mixed blessing of cell phones ringing. We Westerners come to escape from technology while the rest of the world is delighted to have access.
