Day Three Dhorapani to Chame

Gorgeous blue sky morning and our first impressive views of Manaslu , Annapurna II and IV. Stunning. We passed through small villages that are Tibetan like with buildings all of stone. People speak Tibetan and the women wear skirts with striped aprons and long, braided hair. Children were heading to school, donkeys placidly accepted their loads and chickens scampered under feet. Toddlers waved and called "namaste" and no one begged for a pen! Dishes are scrubbed at the communal tap, clothes are scrubbed by hand using a brush in the icy water. Tiny garden plots yield cabbages, onions and potatoes. Rice is not as common in these higher altitudes. The trail became steeper and steeper, but we were soon walking though pine forests and huge rhododendron trees with red and pink blossoms. I love passing the manis, walls of prayer wheels, which we keep to our right as we pass and faithfully spin the wheels to improve our karma.
